Logbook Servicing in Ellenbrook
Short answer: you can have your logbook service done at Prime Euro Services and keep your new car warranty. You do not have to go back to the dealer. Below is exactly how that works, and the fine print that genuinely does matter.
We are a licensed WA motor vehicle repair business, MRB8069, at 3/37 The Broadway, Ellenbrook.
Will an independent logbook service void my new car warranty?
No. Not on its own.
Under the Australian Consumer Law, a car maker cannot make your new car warranty conditional on servicing at its own dealers. It cannot make it conditional on using only its own branded parts either. The one exception is where the maker is paying for that servicing. The ACCC has said this publicly and clearly to the new car industry.
Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law also sit on top of the maker's warranty. They do not vanish because you chose a different workshop.
What actually has to be true
The protection is not unconditional. To keep everything clean, the service has to be done properly:
- On schedule. At the time or kilometre interval the maker sets, not late.
- To the maker's specification. The right items checked and replaced at the right service, with oils, fluids and parts that meet spec.
- By qualified people. A licensed repairer with the right training and equipment.
- Written down. The logbook stamped, and an invoice showing the date, the kilometres, and exactly what was done.
We do all four as a matter of course.
What a car maker can still do
Here is the part most articles skip.
If a fault is genuinely caused by the work that was done, or by a part that was fitted, the maker can decline that particular claim. That is fair, and it is not the same thing as voiding your whole warranty. Every other part of the car stays covered.
So the real question is not "dealer or independent". It is whether the workshop does the job properly and can prove it. That is why we stamp, record and invoice everything.
Extended warranties are different
A dealer-sold extended warranty or an aftermarket warranty is a separate contract with its own terms, and some do set conditions about where the car is serviced. Read yours before you book. If you are not sure, bring it in and we will read it with you.
This is general information, not legal advice. If you have a dispute with a manufacturer, the ACCC and Consumer Protection WA are the places to go.
What we do on a logbook service
We follow your car's own schedule for that service interval. Not a generic checklist.
Real jobs from the workshop:
- A Porsche Cayman 987S logbook service with a full inspection.
- A Mercedes A180 logbook service, plus a major inspection and a diagnostic health check.
- A Toyota Corolla logbook service with a diagnostic health check and a major inspection.
- A Tesla yearly inspection, because electric cars still need eyes on them.
Our logbook services are usually more thorough than the minimum. Finding the thing that was not on the list is the whole point of having the car up on the hoist.
We stamp your book and hand you the paperwork
Every logbook service gets your book stamped. You also get an itemised invoice showing the date, the kilometres and what was done.
Keep both. That paperwork is your proof if you ever make a warranty claim, and a full stamped history is one of the first things a buyer asks for when you sell.
First service on a brand new car
The first service is the one people worry about most.
We did the very first service on a BMW M550i. Warranty-approved parts, BMW's own procedures, done to their guidelines. That is the standard a first service has to be done to.
What a diagnostic health check is
Most people know what a logbook service is. Fewer know what a diagnostic health check does. Modern cars are full of processors and sensors. A scan tool reads them and reports stored faults across the engine, transmission, brakes and other major systems, often before you would notice anything from the driver's seat. That means we catch problems while they are still cheap. Here is one we did on a Toyota Corolla.

Common questions
Can I go back to the dealer later?
Yes. Servicing with us does not lock you out of anything. Your stamped book and invoices are the record, and the dealer can pick up from wherever your history leaves off.
What if my car is on a capped price servicing plan?
A capped price plan is the maker's own pricing offer and it usually applies at their dealers. It is separate from your warranty. Leaving the plan does not void the warranty, you just would not be paying that plan's prices.
What do you need from me when I book?
Your make, model, rego and current kilometres, and bring the service book with you on the day so we can stamp it.
